Emma Wiggylesworth – Uxbridge, Ontario – #Climatestrikeweek

Emma Wiggylesworth

September 27, 2019. It was a long day with a noon protest in Uxbridge. Weird when it was over and everyone seemed to resume their respective places. I found this frustrating–why people aren't instigating change every day is beyond me. Interviewing Emma at The Second Wedge Brewery made me feel better. Emma is thoughtful, kind, and very present. I was honoured that she spoke so honestly.

Are you in love?

"“I am. Yeah, I’ve been dating my partner for almost three years now, and I see us having a real future together."

Who has been the most influential person in your life?

“My mom. My mom struggles with a lot of mental illness, and I’ve never met anyone stronger than her. She inspires me every day!”

How do you feel about the future?

“I feel scared, and concerned that no one else sees it as such a priority like I feel like I do. I worry that I won’t have a chance to grow old, and I see younger children and I worry for them that they’re never going to get to experience what I have.”
