Can

August 29, 2019. I climbed up to Paget Lookout on a perfect, sunny day while hanging out in Lake Louise. On the way down, I met Can. She was sitting on the side of the trail, taking a breather and asked me how close she was to the lookout and the peak. The lookout was three minutes up and behind me, and when she agreed to answer my questions, I hiked back to it with her. Can, a world traveler, was delightful!

Are you in love?

“Not now. Um, I’m looking for love!”

Who has been the most influential person in your life?

“My grandpa, because he loved me unconditionally. When I was young, I was quite naughty and my parents tried to punish me, but my grandpa always say, ‘Let her behave however she wants!’ And my parents would say, ‘what if she will become a bad person in the future if we don’t punish her?’ And my grandpa would say, ‘ I will love her whatever she is.’”

How do you feel about the future?

“I feel like the future is very open. I am very free. I am financially independent. I can do whatever I want, so–I want to find my mission in love–my mission in life, and I want to make a career that I am passionate about. When I was young, I really wanted to be a doctor, but I wasn’t able to, so in the future I want to do something related to healthcare or medicine so I can help people.”
